Utopian Heights Studios: Where Imagination is More Powerful Than Knowledge
What could be more delicious than to spend an afternoon immersed in the enchanting arts landscape that is Utopian Heights Studios. This urban hideaway is home to renowned artists Nancy Mee & Dennis Evans. Nancy is a sculptor whose work incorporates glass, forged steel, stone, and photography and Dennis is a painter known for his eclectic and thoughtful work in oil, encaustic and mixed media. Nancy and Dennis have been living and making art in their Utopian Heights Studios in Seattle since 1976, and their home, ateliers, and garden are an artistic and intellectual synthesis that merges their passions, pursuits and aesthetics.
Magic begins as you walk past forty bright pink ‘Thundercloud’ trees and through a set of dramatic oversized Asian doors. Their entire home is a visual poem, filled with art of their making, of their friends and artisans from faraway cultures around the world. Committed to the belief that art is about sharing, Nancy and Dennis have graciously offered to open their personal studios to our BIMA group, as well as tour the lovely Garden of Souls, galleries, wooden shrine, and carefully curated landscape of stones, benches, sculptures, and bronze plaques with philosophical passages.
The afternoon includes light refreshments and wine, and the company of 30 other arts lovers and culturally curious individuals.
